Comet Nishimura over the Balearic Sea

Chasing Comets at DawnI am currently on vacation, but this comet won’t wait, so yesterday at 5 AM and still half asleep, I hopped into my car and went to a location I had carefully selected using Google Maps - ensuring the comet would rise precisely above the sea. As the first light of daybreak painted the sky, there it was — a celestial traveler from the depths of space, leaving a luminous trail of dust in its wake.  It was a very brief period of time during which the comet was visible before getting lost in the light of the rising sun - but it was well worth the effort. It has grown an extremely long dust tail that didn’t even fit entirely into my field of view.
