Hush Now

This is an unlikely photo.
In the sense that it was unlikely anything was going to come out of it.
I was on vacation under very dark skies near the equator, bringing some astro equipment with me was a no brainer. Unfortunately, due to the seasons changing it was extremely windy at all times. It also definitely did not help that I was on a wooden platform in the middle of the ocean with waves constantly crashing against it.
So I moved my telescope in between a few walls and other structures to protect it from the wind. As a result it could practically only see a tiny slice of the sky - so I just shot whatever was in that very specific direction! Luckily, it was the beautiful but spooky Boogeyman nebula. I decided to frame it together with part of the larger Barnard’s loop to get some color contrast.
I got very few hours of integration time, but the sky was really dark, so this helped a lot. The stars are large, indicating the high levels of humidity in the air, but in this case I don’t mind it.
