Crossing Paths

This is comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon), captured under very poor conditions - bright full Moon and heavy light pollution - simply because of its close apparent passage to the spiral galaxy NGC 3184.

The comet’s diffuse coma and faint tail were barely visible in the raw data and required careful processing to reveal without overwhelming the faint galactic structure. A short sequence of exposures was used to freeze the comet’s motion, and both comet-aligned and star-aligned stacks were produced to retain detail in both components.

Despite the challenging sky, the proximity between the comet and the galaxy made this a worthwhile capture.
