With summer’s short nights limiting exposure time, I decided to have my two scopes — the Artec 250 and the EdgeHD 11 — collaborate on this target. This is Messier 106, a spiral galaxy in Canes Venatici, about 22 million light-years away. It features an active nucleus and faint outer arms shaped by gravitational interactions. Several smaller galaxies populate the frame, adding context to this busy corner of the sky.
