The Polarissima Cluster (NGC 188) in Cepheus - the northernmost known open cluster, lying just a few degrees from the North Celestial Pole. At about 6.8 billion years old, it is also one of the most ancient open clusters in our galaxy, its stars now mostly older and redder.
What makes this region even more fascinating is the presence of faint Integrated Flux Nebula (IFN) - wisps of galactic dust illuminated only by the combined starlight of the Milky Way. The delicate dust structures form a subtle backdrop to the sparse cluster, showing that even near the pole the sky is far from empty.
