Comet hunting is always a thrill - this time I set my alarm at 4am to make my way to the Roque de los Muchachos volcano in La Palma, Spain. I had previously consulted Google Maps to find a suitable location with a completely open eastern horizon. My camera picked up the long tail before the nucleus of the comet even became visible

It was an incredible sight through my binoculars, but only for a few minutes before it disappeared completely into the daylight.
