A Week Under The Stars - Astrophotography with 4 Telescopes At The Same Time! See HOW and WHY
How many telescopes are too many? In this video, I take you behind the scenes of my setup, where I brought multiple telescopes under dark skies for a full week of...
OHHHH MY GOD IF YOU ADD UP ALL THE EQUIPMENT IS A FORTUNE !!!!! I AM STARTING ASTRONOMY/ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY AS A HOBBY AND ALL I GOT IS 2200 $ US DOLLARS I AM GOING TO CRY πππππππ
yeah it can get out of control. but $2200 is actually a lot higher than a lot of people start out at!
One question to the RST-300 Mount and ASIAIR plus. Is is necessary to make a x-star alignment (RCT-300 Hand Controller) or can you just connect to Asiair plus without any Settings of the Hand Controller? Switch on first the Mount or ASIAIR plus?
no need to do the alignment - it is enough to just do goto/plate solve via the ASIAIR. (After polar alignment of course)
How did you manage to fit all this gear in a small car? ππ Just joking. As always an awesome Video!
it was very full :D
Good for you, Space Koala! You are a very cool lady.
This may be off topic for this video but I have an astro modified Canon DSLR and a go to star tracker. Is it worth getting an Asiair without a guide scope? What would it be used for? Thanx for the info.
hey, you can absolutely use the asiair without guiding. With accurate polar alignment and shorter focal lengths you can still do multi-minute exposures most likely - depending on the mechanics of your tracker. The benefit would be a more precise goto and not having to do the model everytime, as it can rely on plate solving (provided your camera is compatible with the asiair via USB). it will also be infinitely easier to find dim targets as you don't have to rely on what you see on the screen
The swiss mountain environment looks so beautiful. The only thing missing from your setup is a nice visual spotting scope.
I just saw this - I usually just use my 10x42 binoculars to stargaze when I'm out taking pictures. More recently, a photomultiplier eyepiece with a 28mm lense, which is the coolest thing ever!
wow! te fuiste con toda la artilleria, que buenos equipos felicidade !!!
Since you burst on the scene, I've gotten interested in astroimaging again. Thank you! I have a C11 HD with Hyperstar and an Atik 428EX. I've laid off for the past 4 or 5 years. My have things changed!!! The new smart telescopes will bring lots of newcomers into the hobby. I was talking with some friends yesterday that were interested in the Seestar.. Thank you for the great videos!
Itβs great to hear you're back in the game, and good luck with your setup!
Can't have too many telescopes!! That is a fine place...mountains look like you could just reach out and touch them! Seemed kind of impolite to ask how you could afford your equipment. I live on a mountain....Pleasant Plains, Arkansas U.S. Nothing like your mountains, but best I can do. Our weather now is like the previous weather you were talking about. Clouds, rain, Tornadoes, wind...weeks of that here this late winter and spring. However, normally, September is my favorite month for observing and photography, but the past 3 Septembers have been bad. This video is only the second of yours I have seen. I will look at more...hope you had good luck this trip.
Hi, can u help me configure the weight of that RASA with all attached acc, cameras? And what is the guiding error, is it under 1"? Hope u can reoly to this, really need some push before buying.
Yes you get <1β guiding. The rasa8 + 2600MC is pushing the limits of the AM3 - I have to set it to βhigh payloadβ mode so if you want to go for sure you could get the AM5 - but Iβm fine with this setup
β@the_space_koalaThanks for the reply, I believe that your setup on am3 is almost 10kg. Impressive guiding numbers. I really hope my am3 can hold 9kg load with heavy duty mode. Thanks again!
Impressive armada of equipment, I am curious on the results!
thank you - some of it is already posted (both here and on Astrobin)
What a crazy beautiful location to shoot. I canβt believe my Swiss ancestors saw that and then moved to New Jersey. Cheers!
hahaha oh no! You should come and visit
Bergen County is beautiful, in it's own way!
Love your channel! How do you control 4 scopes with an asiair at the same time? do you use 1 or more devices to control them? ty <3
thank you! It's 4 asiairs in this case - one per setup. The asiair cannot control multiple telescopes at the same time
Wow! Don't know how you manage 4 scopes. I struggle with one when things don't go to plan. Astro Super Woman !
well I never said it wasn't stressful haha
Hi i also live in Switzerland, and have the same problems with the weather... When I try to use several telescopes at the same time, it often leads to stress. But you do it supper, I've already learned a lot from your videos Greetings from Bern
Thank you! Itβs so rare we get multiple clear nights in a row - I just HAVE to π
Hi Luca, aren't you concerned about dew and humidity on and in the telescope and mounts? I mean, the gear is outside for a night or several days in this case (I guess), and after an imaging session in the cold night, the dew and even ice builds up on the cold surfaces, and in the next morning it gets wet all over. What do you do, do you leave the gear outside to dry on the sun, or cover it, or take it inside? At home do you leave your gear outside the whole time?
I have telescope covers for the day (those light reflecting silver ones). Dew is almost never an issue, most of the time I don't even install the dew shield if not for stray light. At home I'll leave my gear out if shooting for multiple days in a row, otherwise it really depends - sometimes I'll leave the mount out and just cover it or take it all in and cover my piers.
I have an FRA300 and love it. How do you like your FRA600?
I absolutely love it! Overall I have had good experiences with all the Askar refractors I have had the chance to try
I was looking forward to this after I watched your reel, I've learned so much from the way you set things up! Every time I go out to shoot, when I hit a small problem, I think - oh Space Koala solved this, maybe I can try her way π I'm at 3 scopes now with the Redcat 51, a 10" reflector, and the C11 - still have a lot of catching up to do!
sounds like you already have plenty of gear! Amazing :D and thank you for the kind message :)
Kudos! Strike while the iron is hot. Get all you can get while the getting is good. Bet it was a fun week.
that's exactly my spirit :D thank you
What's your daily job?
