Good video, but it's still unclear for me why nobody tells the truth: mounted filters with M48 are NOT well suited for full frame, they introduce very significant vigneting. For full frame always use 50mm unmounted filters and the whole optical path MUST be M54 at least.
I agree with you - if I were to pick the filters now I'd surely pick the unmounted ones. This was 3 years ago and I hadn't considered this. Though, at the time I mostly imaged with my slow SCT's and at those angles it's not a real issue
I’m going through this process now. This was incredibly helpful and saved me a lot of time. Thank you! Question on the prism. Did you have to adjust the prism location at all given the size of the sensor?
yes I did, just a tiny bit, it was not easy to find the sweet spot. I recommend doing it during the day
Great video, this helped me set mine up!
I had a bit of trouble with vignetting using the 2” round filters with my asi6200. I just purchased a set of square filters and a specified OAG for my new set up. Hopefully, that fixes my issue. Either way, great video.
2" round filters are definitely borderline if using faster optics! the 50x50 is a great option!
Me too! Currently pulling my hair out. Turned out, I should have started with unmounted 50mm.
no secret Santa here, I gave myself a Christmas gift --> Player One Poseidon M (APS-C), the matching 7x 2" filter wheel and OAG. Beginning next year I will go for work to China and will this await for me there at our local office 🙂 I am now in the process of selecting a vendor for my filters and have for now Baader Planetarium and Astronomik but heard Antlia is on par with the other 2. I was hoping to see what type of filters you exactly bought from them ;-) but will write to Antlia for their recommendation. And yes, how happy we are with the toys we get for ourselves.
Congrats on your purchase! To be honest I am not completely happy with my Antlia filters shown in the video, I have a big halo problem on the green and some on the oxygen :(
@the_space_koala Thx. My gut feeling tells me to go for Baader with their 3.5/4nm Ultra Narrowband filters (Bortle 5/6) and their CMOS RGB optimised filters. Thx again and clear skies.
Love how the screw holes appeared out of nowhere
What do you mean where
@the_space_koala when you took it out the box it looked like it had no holes. Did you tap them?
when I took it out of the box it had the (black) tilt plate on - then I remove it at 1:00 and the holes are underneath
@the_space_koalasorry I meant on the back plate of the filter wheel. The holes to attach to the OAG
@theboycanplay those are the holes at the very beginning of the video on the cover of the filter wheel - I definitely didn't tap them :D
Full frame? I am using a ZWO 533MM with an EFW for 1.25-inch filters....which looks very giny compared to the set up you're using.
yes it is a full frame! I was using an APSC before (2600MC) and also compared to that it seemed gigantic at first :D
My wife loves your nails…girls ?
lol tell your wife I said thanks 😊
We're like a child at Christmas when our new astro goodies arrive! 🤩
The 6200 comes with a hard case? I did not know that. nice setup. I love my Antlia filters.
It does - at least at the time it did - but once you put the filter wheel on you can never put the camera back in it 😅
I just got my 6200MM and it came with a soft case 😭 but you're right, either way I won't be taking the filter wheel and oag off anytime soon.
Just the video I needed!
Well done 🎉
