The scope on the pillar mount, what cover do you have for that?
It’s not fixed so I just set it up for the night when I use it - no cover!
@the_space_koalathanks for reply. Best of luck on the endeavors. Great content!
Im upset that I cant connect to S30 while using either tailscale or proton vpn. not even remote, whether im on my local wifi or on seestar wifi, no joy
That’s really strange actually - for me it has worked on my VPN since day 1
@the_space_koalaI never edited..I had to turn on LAN connections and it usually works now 😊✨️
keep looking for a fish jumping in the lake. lol i've been running my s30 pro with nina.
there's trout in there :D
Would there be real scientific use of hundreds of connected Seestar telescopes that could be used when the owner themselves is not using it? What kind of targets could the small telescopes observe and AI analyse?
The first thing that comes to mind is Stellar occultations. The brighter ones can be easily observed using a Seestar and having hundreds of observations would give us extremely accurate information about those asteroids
I have made upstairs window boxes on my house using plastic storage cubes. I just needed to screw them to the outside wall . I pop the seestar out of the window when I go to bed and it works fine. Next thing I might try is to cut a hole in the tin roof of my shed so I can climb up an internal ladder and reach my seestar under a small home-made dome. I will then run down some cables to my computer, which is stationed underneath. I can’t see me ever affording a telescope, a guide scope, two cameras, a mount and a controller, but if they ever make a larger aperture system which is as affordable and simple to use as the seestar I will find the cash for sure.
sounds like you have a full fledged obsy going on already 😊
Do the asiair cameras go on the network via an account with the company too ? Seems like it should world to make their ecosystem more attractive.
They don’t currently do that but I would be surprised if they didn’t do that eventually
@the_space_koala it’s all just letting the device and app phone home and linking credentials via the seestar account ? I would join a network that let me setup gear and grant access to members on the telescope network. I could build the cloud of telescopes where nobody really cares what exact chunk of hardware is running if it’s getting the ancient photons rewritten to flash storage and sending data to the compute cluster queue
well it's a little less connected than that. You are only accessing your own device currently
@the_space_koala I see the potential !!!
@the_space_koala I guess for now people can link their device and account and ship it to a sweet location and it magically appears online, that’s pretty cool and useable for people that want to own a device.
Great video....thanks! I'm considering purchasing the S50 but I'm concerned about the exposure to dew or frost damaging the smart telescope. What are your thoughts? Thank you and have a wonderful Christmas. "UPDATE" I just read that the S50 has a built-in dew heater.
I was about to respond the same :) but don't worry the absolute worst thing that could happen is a little dew on your scope. These devices are made to be left outside
Ciao, sei magnifica e il contesto in cui parli di telescopi è semplicemente spettacolare. Complimenti.
grazie molto gentile
Good video. Thanks! Wich eq mount are you using?
I use the move shoot move wedge
@the_space_koalai mean the name and brand of wedge
Yeah the brand is “Move Shoot Move” and they just have one wedge 😊
@the_space_koala😅 sorry, i'm spanish and i don't understad to much. Do you have a link from It? Thanks
What's that splashing around in your pond? 3:06
it's a water reservoir for the helicopters in case of a fire in the mountains and it is constantly exchanged with water from the nearby creek
@the_space_koala It did seem to be a little too perfectly round to be natural. Lol
Can I download the FIT files to my phone or iPad remotely via this new connection ??
you can but I believe only one by one (at least I didn't find the way to batch download them)
I hav eto turn my seestar s30 on vis the power button on it. So how would you use it from somewhere else when your not there to turn it on. Plus I wouldnt leave it outside as it may be raining at home. I wouls rather use it when Im home aas I always go outside and check on it and the weather every 15mins or so
With the new update, will it be possible to grant family members temporary remote access?
With their own temporary login credentials
I'm not aware of this feature being planned, but you never know
Can this remote feature wake up the telescope if it's off? Do I need to keep the telescope on at all times, or is there a standby mode?
you would need to keep it on at all times
With their future hardware versions they really need to add the ability to remotely power the scope on. BTW. I always look forward to you new videos!
I think you’ll always need a second device to power it on as it’s a physical switch. But why not just leave it on? Restarting is possible remotely
I can't get my S30 to join network. When I hit "Join" it says, "The WLAN you connected to has lost internet connectivity" and change it. When I do, I still get a "Connect Failed" notice. Any ideas on how to fix this?
you need to make sure you are in station mode and your home wi-fi is connected to the internet
Using ZWOs solution only deals with the Seestar. If you need to control whatever box your remote telescope lives in, you still need an independent connection to open or close it. Probably to decide if it is cloudy or raining, too.
yes I agree. I really wanted to give an overview of everything to consider though, not. just the seestar remote option itself. If you were to house it on your own obsy for sure you'll need a more complex setup
thank you for another wonderful tutorial, Luca the Space Koala. Speaking of smart, calling all astronomers, astrophotographers. Join forces as allies of animal rights activists. Why?? If animals are legal people, then there is no spacepad launch route to put satellites into orbit, over "unpopulated areas". every trajectory is populated, even antarctica. 😵🤣 courts then can put binding stop to mad satellite constellation launching obstructing earth based views. 😎
What about using ascom alpaca and the telescope network ?
I notice its a Limited-time "Free" beta, can't say I'm surprised, this would have a cost for ZWO and they can't be making a massive profit on the hardware?
