Goodbye lens coatings. Idiotic thing to do.

Walk me through what you think happens to the lens coatings

@the_space_koala I have a better idea - why don't you walk the people you are 'influencing' through WHY its a GOOD IDEA to start pointing their hard earned equipment at the Sun. Please walk us all through this. Plus you get to make more money.

@the_space_koala and yes I do know this is an 'in joke' but not everybody works for Rothschilds and "Do not try this at home" is more or less an invite to kids who are not in on your joke.

Para educar, é melhor pôr um ovo, ver ele explodir e dizer que o mesmo pode acontecer com os olhos de uma pessoa

The mirror from a 10" newt works faster.

If it’s a fast one you’re risking damage to the secondary though

@the_space_koala Lol, I was thinking along the lines of removing the mirror and holding it by hand. I played with mine one day after cleaning it, started burning into wood on my deck in a couple seconds. Would not want to make a mistake handling it in direct sunlight tho.

Who uses matches these days? There are like 10,000 different designs for lighters and many other ways to accomplish this task.

@the_space_koala But like all "renewable" energy it is terribly intermittent. Especially in Northern Europe.

Safety matches. So safe, they wont strike.

Needs a fire, but outside the sun is shining like summertime?
