I Get WBPP Notifications On My Phone with This SECRET PixInsight Script (FREE DOWNLOAD!)
Unlock the hidden features of WBPP with this tutorial on setting up notifications on your phone. Learn how to utilize event scripts for preprocessing in ! PixInsight wit...
I got into astrophotography to relax after a hard day's work as a software engineer. And now here I am looking at code again <sigh>
I get the same error in the Process Console of Pixinsight for both this script & the one that sends an image to your phone: [ERROR] Failed to send photo. Curl exit code: 6 I have checked, and Curl is running just fine on my Mac. I have followed all the steps for each script. Anyone out there had the same error and found a solution?
hey, are you using Pushover or Telegram? do you have a way of checking if the configured credentials work correctly?
This is an Incredibly helpful script and video you have created! Thank you for all the work you have done pm this. I have a question, is it possible with this to have it change the Image identifiers so that when I open the Ha image that it already says Ha? or B for the blue filter.
you would have to do it with the pipeline builder (I have another video on that one). but you'd have to do the scripting yourself
I just can't get it to work...I don't have access to the repository since i run pi 1.8.9.1 (and i don't want to update) so i downloaded the script from Marco Maneti website. But it just gives syntax errors and will not run, unfortunately.
I wouldn't know about the current state of Marco's script but you could always manually download mine from github as well
@the_space_koala Thanks, found it, eventually i took pieces of your code to 'brew' a small script that notifies me of the steps done in WBPP..and it works! And that is nice to have. I don't know Javascript, but it might be interesting to learn the basics.
Just watched this. 1. This is a lifesaver. I have 2000 subs I want to stack and PI keeps crashing for various reasons. Like you said, fail early fail cheap. Thank you! 2. Your animations are amazing ๐
I'm glad this is helpful and thanks :)
btw the current version is much easier to use, read the doc on my website!
Luca, what if you want to use Messages on a Mac/iPhone and not Telegram? You give instructions on how to initialize the setup, but the program you ask us to configure is all for Telegram.
Thereโs a new version of this video that walks you through it. Now it supports telegram, iMessage and with the latest update even Pushover
Amazing feature, thanks for that! ๐คฉ I wonder, would it be possible to tweak the script in the way that one only gets a notification in the case of an error, and also as soon as WBPP has finished? I do not care about status info on the progress, but would like to know when it is time to go back to the computer. Thanks!
This is a good idea, thank you. Iโll have to do another mini configuration script - like I have done now in the SendImageToPhone script, and it should be something easily doable
@the_space_koala This would be awesome! I would have tried to modify the script myself, but still struggle with my lack of JS skills. Highly appreciated!
Thanks for the latest version of the PI scripts. ๐ I had a slight problem with curl running on win10: it kept throwing an s channel 35 error (security certificate of telegram). This can be circumvented with the "-k" flag.
it's great you could figure this out and thanks for letting me know. I will think about doing it this way in a future update, I have to see if it's safe in all scenarios
Hello, This video is very interesting because it describes a feature of a Pixinsight script that we've all been dreaming about. We were thrilled to learn about its existence and were excited. However, the video didn't help us. It doesn't provide a step-by-step guide to accessing the described functions. The website doesn't do any better: a single page, only a small portion of which is translatable. The three of us tried in vain! What a disappointment! Like many Pixinsight users, we are astrophotography enthusiasts, but certainly not computer scientists accustomed to working with scripts. This video initially raised a lot of hope, but it ended up being a source of great frustration! We're now looking elsewhere, hoping to find an astrophotography enthusiast who can create a guide for everyone. Sorry for being so harsh.
hey, sorry to hear your disappointment. a step-by-step tutorial is coming
Thanks for this! Both the (quality of the) content and the professional presentation make a difference IMHO ๐
This is fantastic! I managed to configure my Telegram app and got WBPP notifications. Thank you ๐๐๐๐๐
Wow, just wow. I like to watch your videos for a good couple of months now, and am more and more in awe. Not that I am an expert by any stretch of the word, but I think I can acknowledge professionalism. Did anyone tell you yet, what a nerd you are? And I mean it in the best way possible. ๐ When I see all the possibilities with astrophotography and the processing afterwards, which you are drawing so clear and dedicated, I wonder how far I will get in the hobby if I would/could just spend more time with it. Thank you for all your work, Luca (hope, it is okay to use your name without knowing you in person)
Hey thanks for the nice comment! Well I know I am a nerd I think I have always been but in Astro I have found my place ๐ I hope this content will inspire you to spend more time on this beautiful hobby
Excellent production and content, rarely these things combine on youtube. I thank you also for the quick response to the question I raised on your website. In case it is useful for others...Make sure you use the latest PI version before attempting to pull Luca's repo otherwise you will get a code signing error. Brilliant!
Your videos are highly informative and professionally presented. You dont need to resort to melodramatic click bait " OMG" faces so typical of you tube videos. You are much better than that,. People will watch your videos because they respect what you have to say. Keep up the good work! :)
Thank you for saying that and I think you could be right. Iโm still new to the whole YouTube thing and my content appeals to a very diverse audience so Iโm experimenting a bit and also having fun with the unnecessarily dramatic faces ๐
Great thing Luca, curl as a program might not be OOB available on all computers
we tested the telegram message sending on Mac and Windows - I'm quite sure it also works on Linux. That covers all platforms PixInsight is available for. What scenario are you thinking may cause issues?
@the_space_koalaย Curl available since Windows 10 certain build. Just for those who don't have it, it is easy to install. Am lucky enough to enjoy a fast enough computer
Great post! I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but when I paste your GitHub link into PixInsight it tells me the its unable to download your script. "Unknown code signing identity "your name" "
you should do a Pixinsight update first without my repository - I am a new developer so my signature has only been added approximately 3 weeks ago. If you havent' updated since you would get this error. Let me know if this helps!
I like your videos The Space Koala
thank you I am glad you do
I would love to have this in ASIAIR - like when you are imaging overnight and say there is a tracking alarm or you have not imaged in 15-30 minutes - it would send a message to you and inform you that there is something wrong. I was shooting the other night and twice it stopped imaging (I could not figure out why - no alarms). I restated the guiding and it started but I lost 90 minutes once and 60 minutes a separate time on the night. - a very rare clear night this year. Painful since I really could have used the extra data on a few of my targets - and this seems to be with the new version becasue I do not recall this happening a month or so ago when I was imaging with the same setup.
this would actually be awesome. The ASIAIR is a closed system, it would be difficult to put anything in without voiding the warranty - and especially since they removed the SD cards, it would be quite difficult to do as well. Using open-source control systems would make it easier. Of course, you'd still have to be connected to the internet for this to work
@the_space_koala I was thinking tyhat they could build the feature in to make you phone/tablet beep to tell you that it is not tracking. like an app which could run on your watch which only told you the shooting status or buzz if it was told to because of an alarm. This would be a game changer for those of us who shoot literally on their front/back yard. Also thanks for the coverage of the New England show. It beat not being there.
I was there at NEAIC for your excellent talk. You gave a really great talk and there was a large amount of interesting information given. Now there is a You Tube video of your talk. Now I can go over spots that I need to understand what I haven't understood the first time and get all of the details that were presented. Thank you!
thanks for being there - and here! part 2 of this talk is coming to youtube in a matter of days, I think that was the more complicated one :)
This really is great but as Iโm useless at anything technical Iโll need to watch this video a few times but as I said itโs fabulous, thanks.
Thanks! If you just want to set it up with the ready made script, Iโm sure youโll be able to do it following the step-by-step instructions in the documentation
