Is combine & separate a better result than channel extraction?

@FrogsInOrbit
@FrogsInOrbit

@the_space_koalayou stacked the OSC, but also had it stack three mono channels you didn't use. I'm asking if that is the same result as splitting the OSC channel after stacking. I've never seen them created during stacking like that.

I'm a little late, but excellent processing. Please do more. πŸ‘

I really admire your passion of capturing the total detail of the images. Incredible pictures! Thank you for sharing these with us. 😊

Nice to see your workflow and reasoning. Haven't been using PI for several years and just getting back into the hobby all over again. I will never be a power user like yourself though. :)

Really nice result, and your Composition was instinctively excellent as. Perhaps you could have even pushed the Nebula even further towards the lower left, but maybe not. I would recommend a second image as well, with most of the original shot, as there is an entirely different feeling created by including the sense of Scale with respect to the entirety of the whole sky. Also, it seems like you are restricted to the RGB, but you can do so much more if you have access to the Cyan, Magenta and Yellow channels. More flexibility allows for more granular control. The last thing I will bug you about, and this can be a very unpopular idea, but have you considered trying a Windows based machine? PicsInsight obviously has a Windows version, but I don't know what other software that you use that may not easily translate to the Windows OS. If you ever decide to try it, find someone's upload of a "Cleaned" version of Windows 10 (not Windows 11), or follow a guide on how to manually Clean a new Win 10 install. Murder, execute and dismember any OS or Branded A.I. software assist. It is all Spyware. The OS itself is very, very easy to learn, but changing some software might be more painful. The advantages are much more powerful hardware options, though your Mac seems pretty snappy. Ask computer nerds what their opinion is for the work that you do. But I loved this video. A great teaching tool, as well as a great source of fresh ideas. Enjoy many nights of clear, dark skies so that your skill and creativity are never exhausted...

Instead of a GRWM video, this is a PWM video.

@the_space_koalaLMAO.... I FINALLY got a grasp on processing using SIRIL and Photoshop.... I am not even thinking about PixInsight. That is just too complicated for me right now. I am just trying to get consistency with the basics before I take on learning anything else.

What is drizzling?

@the_space_koala
@the_space_koala

you can increase the resolution (if your telescope allowed) in post-processing at the cost of signal-to-noise ratio

Giraffe Nebula - LDN 1295 - located between the big peak of Casseopiea and the Andromeda Galaxy.

Wow, thank you for an insight in to your thought process in processing this image with such a fab result bringing out the dust. Have you considered, though an RGB OSC processing tutorial for the not so advanced PI users ? It would be great if you could as your knowledge of PI is awesome.

@the_space_koala
@the_space_koala

yes I would like to do that, it's hard to gauge the level though - everyone defines "not so advanced" in a different way. The best thing would be some sort of an "academy" which would start from the basics and build up - so that everyone can choose their level. I will do this eventually

I just don't understand how her data looks so clean after starxterminator when I do that my data looks so blurry What I'm doing wrong πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I really try to follow the processing and my result its not even close πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜… (I'm doing the baby eagle)(monochrome btw lrgb)

@the_space_koala
@the_space_koala

it's strange that sxterminator would make your photo blurry. Perhaps it's not the star removal, but with the stars the blurriness is just less noticable? Keep in mind that I worked with a LOT of data here. Keep up the work, it takes time!

@the_space_koalaΒ  at this time I have 75 hrs of data ha-lrgb and like I said before for some reason my data gets kind blurry after starxterminator and there is like gradiant where is not gradiente before iI just don't understand what I'm doing wrong I have just a year on the hobby so alot to learn yet

A live one of any object would be amazing but logistically like you say it would be a nightmare for you and a bit long and time consuming

Great video with good explanations at each step. You have a new subscriber from western Canada!

I love your intro video......Toinnnnnng.....The Space Koala, and that's it. Unlike other sites which has too much music & long video intros. Really enjoy this processing video. I'm always ever so ready to learn from others and am hoping you'll make it a series. I'm hoping you'll do M33 as i'm kind of stuck with processing it at the moment. Anyways, thanks for the wonderful video.

Thank you for your kind words, I'm glad you found the video helpful. The "toinnnng", haha! I'm serious about astrophotography techniques but try to keep the rest as light-hearted as possible. Not sure about m33 this year, but galaxy season is coming up so if the weather allows we should have many galaxy photos over the next few months
