If I remember correctly, the sensor in the ASI2400 is the same as in the Nikon Z6, while the sensor in the ASI6200 is the same as the sensor in the Nikon Z7 (and now Z8 and Z9). I purchased a Z6 because of its low light sensitivity and have been very happy with the widefield Milky way shots I've done with it an a 14mm lens. I was trying to understand what need the ASI4400 filled so thank you for explaining that's replaced the ASI2400 as the entry level full frame in their lineup.

Very thorough review again ! You say thousands of bias frames to make your master bias ? Is it worth to make that many, I mean do you notice a difference between let's say a few hundred and a few thousand frames ?

you do.. I cannot paste images in here but if you look at a master bias of say 100fr vs 2000fr, they look very different. The 2000fr one actually draws out the fixed pattern of the sensor. IMO it is worth it, it's something you're going to do maybe once a year and biases are quick anyway

if you wanna go full frame and cheap you should be looking at an older DSLR

Great review as always. Thanks for sharing it. I am curious about your comment regarding processing of Pleiades to manage the brightness of the brighter stars. Do you also have a yt video on that?

@the_space_koala I would totally watch it!

Another well prepared and presented video. Informative, factual and useful for less experienced AP like myself. Thank you for sharing. Respectfully, HJ

looks like zwo is still keeping 2400mc around but probably won't have new items in stock it looks like. even though dark subtraction will take care of glow, be nice to not have it at all like 2600 and 2400. may get this at some point otherwise just plunge into mono full frame.

What about the 2600?

the 2600 is an APSC so a much smaller sensor, not exactly in the same lineup. It is amazing nonetheless

@the_space_koala What do you think will be the next big planetary camera after the 585?

I wouldn't know tbh... I'm not too up-to-date on the latest sensors on the market :D

Don’t understand why they wont make MM version with those bigger pixels😢that would be great for longer FL telescope….P.S. don’t ask me to BIN because i wont😂

Around 7:20 you say "Literally shouting thousands of frames for my master bias" , do you see difference from using 64 or 128 bias frames and go up to i.e. 1000?

I don't believe you will ever see it visually but my reasoning is that the smaller pixel-by-pixel differences you would like to get accurately (relatively speaking) the more precise you have to be. I did one of my oldest videos explaining this in more detail (all about calibration frames). Mathematically it definitely makes a difference, not necessarily visually. This time I did a master bias of 2000 frames

Not for me. There is a 1k psychological barrier on what is referred to as "daddy's toys'. I could make it work if ZWO releases a Transformers version, 3-4 standalone functional pieces I can assemble. Otherwise, too many k's in one basket.

hear me out, ZWO camera as a service! only 50 per month :D

@the_space_koala At 10% consumer credit interest that works out to about 7 years worth of payments 🙂. That's a lot of years. Plus, turns out the correct answer to the question how many stars do I need in my life (besides my wife) is just about as many as can fit in a 533 🙂.
